Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about enView — what it is, what data it provides, supported devices, pricing and alerts.
- enView is a progressive web app (PWA) that gives you access to environmental weather data in one place. It brings together live observations, forecasts, sensor readings and alerts into a single, installable interface that runs in your browser.
- enView is provided to existing EDS / enView clients. It is not a public self-service product — each client organisation is given its own enView instance, provisioned and configured around the data networks, stations and alert thresholds that matter to them. Because access is managed through your organisation, your people sign in with the same accounts and single sign-on they already use, and the right users can be added or removed centrally as your team changes. If you are an existing client and are not yet set up, or you would like to find out about becoming an enView client, get in touch and we will walk you through it.
- enView is built around environmental and weather data: real-time observations, forecasts, sensor and station readings, and configurable alerts. Available datasets depend on which networks are connected to your enView instance.
- No. enView runs in any modern browser. If you would like quicker access you can optionally "install" it to your home screen or desktop straight from the browser — there is nothing to download from an app store.
- enView is a progressive web app you can add straight to your home screen — no app store required. On Android use Chrome's "Add to Home screen"; on an iPhone or iPad use Safari's "Add to Home Screen". Full step-by-step instructions for Android and iOS are in the install guide .
- Yes. enView is SSO compliant and supports single sign-on, including Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory). Teams already using Microsoft 365 can sign in with their existing Entra ID accounts instead of managing separate credentials. Authentication is handled by your identity provider, so enrolment, group membership, MFA and conditional access policies stay managed in Entra ID, and access to enView can be granted or revoked centrally without any extra setup inside the app.
- enView is designed mobile-first and works on modern phones, tablets, laptops and desktops. Any browser that supports progressive web apps — including Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox — will run enView.
- Accuracy depends on the underlying source. enView surfaces data from official observation networks, forecasts and sensors, and shows the source and timestamp with each reading so you always know where a number came from and how fresh it is.
- Yes. You can configure alerts on the parameters and locations you care about. When a threshold is crossed or a severe-weather event is detected, enView can notify you through the app.
